Tacit knowledge is amorphous and is usually embedded in the experience and minds of employees or a group of people. We do not directly measure tacit knowledge. We can't and it will be senseless to do so. Yet if we cannot somehow "measure" it we can not manage it. Senior management, people who are important in driving any KM initiatives, are used to ROIs of sorts. So how can we attempt to quantify the use of tacit knowledge no matter how artificial that may be.
