New in KM - need some direction

Hi,

I've taken responsibility for doing an initial KM-related study for our division, which has about 200 people, and has a turnover of $8 million.

I need some direction here, with regard to getting this thing started in a well-orchestrated manner, so that there's a framework for further action.

This is just a preliminary study, and I don't have a budget to invest in tools or methodologies.

I thought the best approach to take would be to do a Knowledge Audit of our division first, find out where we stand. I would like someone to suggest a FREE questionnaire or tool I can tweak and use, to do a survey as quickly as possible (say within a week or two).

Any other ideas (other than a KM audit) will be highly appreciated. I am continuously noting down what KM means to colleagues, what they expect out of it, stumbling blocks we might face, and so on, but I know that's just the tip of the iceberg, and I'm afraid I might be approaching this blindly.

Need some direction, in a nutshell!

Thanks in advance,
Atul
