Hi Akhil

Teleos, a London based KM research organisation conducts a very structured survey to identify "Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE)". Started in 1998, the annual MAKE survey is now the leading benchmark for the world's best knowledge-based organizations. Each year, the survey identifies organizations that stand above the crowd in the knowledge economy. Last year, the top MAKE award winners, in addition to Ernst & Young, were Microsoft, BP Amoco, Xerox and Buckman Laboratories.

The 2000 MAKE survey, conducted by Teleos in association with The KNOW Network(SM), was sent primarily to top executives at Fortune Global 500 companies. The survey asked each executive to nominate as many as three "most admired" companies and then rate these organizations based on the eight knowledge-performance attributes listed below:

Success in establishing an enterprise knowledge culture
Top management support for managing knowledge
Ability to develop and deliver knowledge-based goods and services
Success in maximizing the value of the enterprise's intellectual capital
Effectiveness in creating an environment of knowledge sharing
Success in establishing a culture of continuous learning
Effectiveness of managing customer knowledge to increase loyalty and value
Ability to manage knowledge to generate shareholder value

Teleos is an independent knowledge management research company. The KNOW Network (www.knowledgebusiness.com) is a group of leading knowledge-based organizations dedicated to sharing best knowledge practices that lead to superior business performance. An executive summary of the 2000 MAKE study can be requested by sending email to info@knowledgebusiness.com.
