How to motivate knowledge sharing

one of the biggest problems in KM is that people don't share their knowledge. Complex communication software is installed on intranets, but people just don't use it.
People do attend seminars, meetings and often have a small group of people that they discuss things with.
What if the knowledge that is shared here is accessible for others?? Just imagine...
The answer is the use of simultaneous collaborative discussions supported by electronic meeting software.
A same-time-same-place meeting with peers to share thoughts on some interesting subject will motivate and enable people to express their knowledge.
The knowledge can then be published easily on an intranet, which in turn will create the knowledge sharing culture.
Does anybody relate to this application of group support software?
