Since you know Doug, you know what i mean about structure. i agree that the specific tasks that you discuss are not completely amenable to techniques such as SADT. BUT, they might be to the process you undertake in an organized or structured way to solve those problems. That does not mean you would adopt SADT, or a variant. But, i think you would agree that your approach is structured so that you knmow where you think you are going and where you have been.
