Andy
That is why I propose teaching the learning and experience of 11 years. Explaining concepts and techniques in a face-to-face situation could be likened to a form of mentoring. Merely providing documents with the refined knowledge encoded, does not mean the reader would be able to understand. My major criticisms against "modern" IT training companies are:
- Hardly any opportunity for practice is being factored into lecture time and
- Learning evaluations are linear and unreliable, if not non-existent.How does one expect a student to become enthusiastic about a subject, if they are left consciously incompetent at the end of a course or training session?
I think the teacher's job is to ensure the material is assimilated. Putting the responsibility of assimilation on the student, makes for very shoddy learning results.
Maybe that is way there is an IT skills "shortage". I have been part of too many wasted hours of so-called training, with no framework for application in support of further learning, that it seems logical that IT skills should grow at a negative rate, as it is not a direct function of Training investment, but rather of assimilation and practice or in other words, intelligent teaching methods.
Regards
Robert
