I do not work for an accountancy firm, but if I did, I would follow their strategy to keep my job. As a consultant though, my way is to find bottlenecks in the knowledge production chain and try to get more expertise there.
Practice can easily be turned into theory or strategy simply by labeling it, favorably a bit fanciful to cover up the hoax. There is nothing wrong with being clear about routines and traditions, but they should not automatically one day be called strategies. That is how IBM broke down, or Philips.
"Untersuchet alle dinge und behalte das Gute" was the first line in my 3rd grade German language book. We can be very proud of all that ICT has uncovered for us. The step that km is taking is carefully loosening the necessity for datamodels. The context for information becomes less rigid, not just because that is more genuine to knowledge but especially because now we have the means to allow ourselves that.
Anyway, that is what I look for in management literature. We should keep the faith in a systematic approach for it guarantees we do not end up with more hype or godforbid continue the hype under a new name. Is that compatible with km views at the KUB?
