Greetings Reilly,
We may be talking past one another here again!. I agree there are times when guidance is necessary and far too many folk pitch at university ill-prepared to learn, critique or think for themselves. These are the empty vessels that may benefit from for some structure, direction and content.
Mostly I tend to think in terms of workplace learning and (re)education on the job or continuous learning so social learning fits this stage and need rather well. Even so looking back I'm starting to appreciate the true extent of my learning from peers.
We hear the message from the stage but we test the fit on the playground Difficult to say where where the actual learning took place. Here is a link to one of the articles that enabled me to make this shift.
