Hello,
A favorite theme in my social psychology college education was the theory of "power-distance" (Mulder, 1962), meaning the desire of people to increase their influence by increasing the distance to their next down ranked colleagues and decreasing it to the next up. The organizational structure that follows can easily be managed while keeping the "strategy" undisclosed. There does not even need to be a strategy or a theory, let alone a theory that can succeed or fail in praxis. I feel this nicely illustrates the notion of the attention economy and the truth value of such.
