Greetings,

I do not recall having seen a recent report along these lines. Here are some personal observations:

1) Automatic profiling is hot (Autonomy, Tacit, Orbital)
2) Many software applications are adding interactivity and community (Spotfire, Wisdomtools, SPSS)
3) Portals are in the news (NonStop from compaq, Delano, Viador)
4) Knowledge exchanges are everywhere (Keen, IcExchange, Avoca)
5) Ontologies are much needed by B2B verticals (Commerceone, Verticalnet, Ariba)
6) XML, defining document structure and types, is the emergent standard (Insero, Intraspect, Intraware)
7) Collaborative filters, recommender systems and social navigation are focus area for eCommerce (see link)

The next big wave, now in beta testing, will be KM functionality delivered via ASPs, look to see faster implementation cycles, greater integration, reduced upfront investment, on-line training.

Truely exciting times!!
