How to become a recognised KM practitioner

I have an education in psychology and computer science, and I have been working in the areas of information management for a number of years. I'm specialised in cultural issues concerning IT-projects in Asia. Now, my goal is to become a recognised KM Consultant. I've got the stigma as somebody who knows about IT and Asia, but it seems difficult to get into a good loop of working explicitly in the area of KM. I wonder what to do to get there.

eKnowledge Center offers so-called KM Certification, and CIBIT offers a KM Masterclass. Are the courses worth the value? Are there other ways of achieving documented knowledge and skills in KM? Which KM institution is the most recognised out there?

I'm working as an IT management consultant for a management firm, but within international IT management projects. The head of the KM area in my company says that our main focus is on marketing our KM services, not so much on theoretical development. Do you have any good advice, how I could contribute in this respect. How to market KM services?

Thanks for any comments.
