Denham, GIGO is alive and well, but one's GIGO is another's gold, that is the challenge of relevance and context.

My thought is that the rules of relevant content should be specified within context of meaning. the real work should be done at the rule definition and maintenance level, then any reasonable search engine should find what one is looking for.

I am reminded of how one of the 10 KM principles, about 3 years ago, focussed on individualized KM solutions. Why are we still trying to address the masses with KM? Yes, we could, provided the context of individual users could be invoked/instantiated in real time whenever posting a query. This should be a very interesting IT challenge in terms of processing power and capacity, if not more so to build these relevant contextual rule bases/repositories/dictionaries.

We shoudl still try though, else we cannot learn, and try better next time.
