Foster a work environment that promotes teamwork. Trust is earned through teamwork. A foundation of trust based on ethics that are well defined and routinely enforced by organizational leadership encourages learning.
Sharing information in a format that promotes knowledge needed by decisionmakers to gain the level of understanding they require before and after they make key decisions that achieve desired results is a technique to effectively manage knowledge.
A clear and concise vision statement with goals and objectives used to achieve desired results…and an implementation plan that identifies actions and issues used to accomplish objectives that satisfy goals used to achieve desired results (framed by the vision statement) are another technique to share knowledge and new ideas in an enterprise.
Always consider the people that form the organization when developing useful solutions.
Process recognition of critical information needs…taking into consideration organizational design and relationships within and external to the organization is a useful tool.
When people are more efficient, they prosper and so does the organization. Hoarding of knowledge generates friction points. KM is a tool to reduce friction points. Once personal agenda soap opera crap is reduced, people begin to realize how profitable sharing of knowledge can be, especially in organizations that promote ethical conduct, teamwork and trust by senior leadership who set the example through relationships formed and daily conduct.
