Hello
Information Audits attempt to capture all sources of all infomation in corporate databases and how they are related. Generally this is a map of databases, objects (such as tables) and attributes together with business, technical and (sometimes) management metadata. In a large volatile organization this huge task can become an exercize in futility.
An IS audit is typically an audit of applications, from the smallest to the biggest, that a corporation uses.
An IT audit is an audit of hardware (boxes, cpus, disks, robots etc.) and software such as operating systems, network management etc. and the bits used to link systems together like routers, structured integrated cabling etc.
A knowledge audit would also include a high-levekl information audit.
I believe that comprehensive and all encompassing knowledge audits that try to determine too much detail are a complete waste of time and money, and might just result in KM getting a bad name in any significant organization.
Hope this helps.
