at least, when a situation driven a posteriori approach is used.

Knowledge itself seems to be immeasurable, only the effect knowledge has on the environment it is applied to, can be meassured. Knowledge is in organisational studies, what a 'black hole' is in science.

Being 'transformed' to manager, since January this year (that's why I no longer visit this forum as frequently as I did), I found out (the hard way, through client feedback) that it is EXPERIENCE that has value.

Where has someone been, and for how long, and what has someone done there. That is what proofs someones qualities, compentence and value.

Managing knowledge comes down to (simply) managing work/experience.
