Robert -- Seems to me that you are describing steps in your education after school. This process of learning new things, and then applying them to business activities, or other activities, is age old. And it is good, don't get me wrong. But, people have been working with knowledge, thinking about it, expanding it for centuries. So, why all of a sudden do we need a new name for an old, traditional activity?

What's different than someone, or some group, building on the use of the automated spreadsheet? I do not recall any one talking about the spread sheet economy. The notion of "zero" was invented quite a few centuries ago, but we have never had a "zero" economy or "zero" management -- even though the invention of zero is among the most profound and practically important of human inventions.

It's always been a knowledge economy, as much in 11BC as it is now. Business and commerce have always been driven by knowledge. What's the revolution? How different is it, if it exists, from the "revolution" centered on the telegraph, the telephone, or the ones centered around the germ theory of disease? Massive changes do not necessarily a revolution make.

I mean no disrespect. I do, however, hope to cut through all the spin surrounding KM to get to the core -- and how that core ties into and relates to the history of knowledge.

Regards,
Reilly
