Hi
It's easy for some people to be blasé or cynical about miracle cures, especially when they are wrapped in a mystic that could only be politely described as curios.
Look at it this way, even the use of the term Extreme Innovation makes an old lag like myself reach for my ... er ... dictionary.
As for rationality and extreme innovation, do you think they go hand in hand?
Seems to me that if one wishes to revamp early 80's AI, take it out on the town and call it Extreme Innovation then one is quite at liberty to do so, just as it seems pretty reasonable for others to be of the opinion that it seems like so much whooey which has had its 15 minutes of fame a long time ago - somewhere between End User Computing and the rise of Open Systems.
And yes, getting back to rationality, it takes some believing that there is so much faith and emphasis placed on one class of knowledge representation i.e. Rule Systems, when so much has been written about it in the past twenty years - does this encourage any sort of interest in the validity of the research at hand? methinks not.
As for the benefits of being able to look at the issues with the eyes of an outsider or to be able to put ourselves in a similar situation then one can only concur with the obvious benefits accruable from such an exercize - still doesn't turn snake oil into a universal panacea though.
Cheers and regards,
