Interesting to note that you appear to support the shared everything paradigm.
Knowledge sharing in the software industry is generally, as far is my experience of it is concerned, atypical.
The problem with knowing, or not, if everybody is divulging everything they know or not, is really also a question of whether we know everything that people know or not. But if we do not know everything that everyone we need to learn from knows then how can we be sure that people are not concealing some knowledge?
I can think of any number of scenarios in which I would not willingly reveal all that I know, and I can say this is probably true for quite a few people that I know.
