I think you are painting a picture I did not intend Reilly but it raises some interesting and I fear unresolved questions. So I'm a day trader using some e-service, who owns the medium and the information?. What happens if I get access to the logs here at Brint and apply a concept extraction algorithm, build a profile of your values or opinions? Do you own that? Do I have a right to sell that to a 3rd party without disclosure?, If you interact with this medium in a public space have you lost some ownership rights even before we start down the road to detremine if that is your knowledge or my ingenuity?

Please do not cast aspersions, I was answering a question around the possibilities, I clearly stated there were ethical issues, you passed the judgement that I should have condemned the practice. A more reasonable way to handle this would be to inquire where I stand. I do not condone stealing anyones knowledge. I'm trying to say it is not a black and white case, there are many unresolved issues.

Thanks for calling me on the practicality of the financial market exercise. I agree, finding suitable models is very difficult and dealing with lags and the dependencies is no mean task in this environment. This does not detract from the issue, that in more bounded systems, it is possible to derive or identify useful patterns and in a sense it is possible to reverse engineer some of the 'knowledge', the ethics is another issue I believe.
