Yes the source of the comm problem can be traced back to the education we all receive. But assuming we receive fundamentally the same education, the student next to me will evolve a different mindset compared to me as an example. I am sure you will agree, the problem is not just the education and leadership, but much more complex. I feel it also has to do with the attitudes we develop, the prejudices we experience, the fears that we feel so on and so forth.

Yes I do complete agree the Leader can play a major role, implementing an enterprise wide technology can be done in a non-techie way. Leadership can play a vital part and ensure that technology is not intimidating but using terminology and vision’s which ALL can have a common empathy with.

One the note of the smaller organisation thing, well absolutely true, after all did not ALL major corporations started small one day. The small business cultural within a large corporation is critical in my view. A small business mentality, where one needs a spectrum of skills, shared commitment and a common vision is fundamental. This is an elaboration of communities of practices we hear and know about. I have added extra dimension in that community is focused towards whatever its best practices is but then add to it, the business and IT elements. That is when we have a good marriage between the techie and non technie, since both are committed towards a common goal and vision within a tight small business unit. A case of all for one and one for ALL. Where each member needs core business and technology skills in order to contribute towards the success of the small business. This concept is tough within a large corp, often one does not feel a member of the corperation (in community context), hence there is no (or lack) common sense of a direction. One does not feel part of the corporate vision, the business objectives...etc. So lets foster smaller communites of business within a large corp, at least in terms of attitudes if nothing else,
