Hi! I have basically been researching the same thing. I came across one interesting practice, but unfortunately I can't remember for the life of me where I got it from (it was in a Knowledge Management article regarding a real company). Hopefully I won't get in trouble for not being able to give credit where credit is due :) Anyway, they called it a "knowledge bounty". It was a company policy that a person who was leaving could earn between $1000 - $5000 extra if they took the time to write a document outlining important knowledge - the amount of money given was based on the value of the knowledge content. I have however heard a lot of arguments against rewarding knowledge sharing with monetary values. But if the person is leaving anyway, maybe this will ensure the document is of good quality. On the other hand, if the policy is well known in the company, then people see that they are being rewarded extrinsically for sharing....but you work in a bank :) I will leave it up to you and my fellow post-ers to judge...
Oh yeah, a lot of companies use exit interviews, similar to what that thread that you were pointed to was talking about.
Hope this helps...if you come across anything helpful, it would be great if you could share! Thanks in advance!
