Knowledge is power. Why, is the question. The answer also solves the dilemma of KM vs IM vs DM.

There are a number of perspective in which to understand the dichotomy. First, if we divide the medium of communication in half, for Human and Technological, and then superimpose knowledge, information and data over this division, we have a new context in which to understand these relationships.

Earlier, I suggested that knowledge is what is exchanged between opposing minds, that information is exchanged between similar minds, and that data is gender-neutral.

Denham has a good analogy, being that knowledge is the experience either learned or gained by baking a cake, that info are the instructions for the baking, and that data are the ingredients.

Personally, I find that knowledge is both a unifying process of understanding, a desire to see the underlying similarities in all disparate elements. Information represents the classifications of disparate elements, and data are the elements themselves. However, all descriptions listed here are somehow apropo.
