Since KM can meaning anything to anyone. To some its about Intranets, to others its about communities, to some it’s about best practices. Well in reality it’s about all those things and many more. This causes one a problem when one is trying developing an overall strategy. To get commitment which is fundamental if one is succeed from Senior Exec’s is hard work. Well I am planning to take a different angel on this. Why not call is based it on Learning, after all that’s what K is all about, to learn, to gain wisdom. I think I maybe far more successful taking this approach then calling it KM.

Learning fundamentals are same as the cultural issues one faces when implementing KM in any organisation. It’s all about learning from corporate memory, from past experiences, learning from others (tacit knowledge). Learning is also all about gaining knowledge, from various other sources too, papers, reports, books…. etc, i.e. codified information.

Would like your comments about this approach. I just feel I am likely to get attention when I mention ‘learning’ then KM, of course not in every case. Some organisations are fully aware of the spectrum KM is but unfortunately not ALL.
