Continuous Improvement within IS?

I am working on an Undergraduate
research project. I am trying to
investigate the methodologies/works
relating to the continual improvement
process that is required to keep all
Information Systems up-to-date and
responsive to user needs in changing
environments. (Having experienced this
process myself, in a medium/large
Financial Services company)

I was wondering what "buzz words" or
authors might aid my research into this
area. Would anyone be kind enough to
help?
