in my opinion Boris Pluskowski countered the Knowledge is Power paradigm quite elgantly:

"Yes, Knowledge is Power - but only if others know you have it. By sharing Knowledge you are actually gaining power by letting others know you are the expert.” Boris Pluskowski

Another option might be to translate Kevin Kelly's view on buying your way into networks to knowledge networks:

If I have a fax machine, your action of buying one actually adds value to my fax machine (as I now have a bigger network of faxes to fax to). Similarly if you use my knowledge than my knowledge get used more often, hereby increasing the value of my knowledge (you are still the expert, especially if you are already five steps further up the road...).

Indeed, the simulariaties between the two approaches are clear to see.
