Don't get bogged down in some "data collecting" trap. Here is a HINT an a wonderful research problem ... that will surely get you the degree and some serious recognition. Note in The Third Posting of the UTK how explicit knowledge can be mapped into a context but implicit (tacit) knowledge CAN NOT be so mapped. I am not at all sure that the literature addresses this issue in quite this context. (Someone here can give us a cite maybe.) This idea of mapping onto a context is not properly understood. You might want to simply develop such mapping techniques. In this way, you will explore the boundary conditions that exist at the interface of mapped implicit and explicit knowledge.
If you do not like this, tell me why. I have another idea for you. In any case, you will be working at the cutting edge .... where you must be, and it sounds more rigorous to me than what I "think" your thinking.
Contact me directly if you wish.
best
