The idea of Managing Knowledge is relatively new within its current context of Intellectual Capital. It is so new that it is not possible to pose a rigorous question about KM because a rigorous definition of M does not yet exist. You can do a quick proof of this by asking several knowledgeable people in the field and you will you will find that they all define Knowledge, Data, Information, etc. In different ways. This is typical of a field in its infancy.
Now I will pose to you an interesting way to go about your research that should led you directly to your Master's thesis.
A Way: Look at the thought experiment I have posted here yesterday. Design your own "thought laboratory" or use the one I have provided, to help you arrive at rigors definitions of these entities that are called "M".
Feel free to communicate with me if you need help.
Best
