Hi Yogesh,

I was thinking about the notion of control while walking to work. On a practical level, if we ask someone to 'do' something, like develop a business plan for us, we are basically controlling their specific actions, what they will be thinking about, etc. for the next while, at least until the business plan is completed. However, if we attempt to control more deeply, to monitor their work at every step of the way, then our 'passive' control, our original 'controlling position' is becoming more an more 'active'. And as we know from the literature, these kinds of situations rarely accomplish anything productive. Thus the importance of a healthy equilibrium between control and freedom. And knowledge management is the term which illuminates this relationship, in my opinion. I can't think of another business term which does this quite so implicitly. Can you? Don
