And don't forget a substantial number of IT related firms (IBM, Microsoft, HP, SUN, etc.).
As there core products and services are almost continously changing they have no choice than to integrate information mgt (efficiency), knowledge management (innovation) and personal innovation.
Perhaps the combination of their pioneership and their professional deformation is one of the reasons KM and IT have become so intertwined :-).
Also take the initiatives of Shell, BP, GE into account. Regarding Shell there is an interesting article by Gary Hamel in the recent edition of the Harvard Business Review (Bringing Silicon Valley Inside).
