Hello John,
Sorry for the delay. I agree with you. However, I am not sure that knowledge acquisition is a personal trait. Knowledge acquisition in a company is like knowledge acquisition in scientific communities, that are largely cooperative and an occasional newsbreak is merely an unpredictable yet expected evolution of a problem stated in the research program.
Of course researchers will claim they had it right all along, and there seem to be exceptional heroes among them, but we need each other for feedback, feed-forward, conjecture and refutation, where the evidence is inconclusive.
Incidentally, as a km community we should somehow fight the splintering, for it makes us contradicting each other and as a result lose credibility with our customers.
