One of the great "Whiz-Bangs" in our past once said "Knowledge is Power". I firmly believe that knowledge is "Potential" power. All of the knowledge in the entire universe is totally useless unless you do something with that knowledge. The concept of KM is to seperate that knowledge which you need and can use, put it somewhere where those who need it can get it and USE it. This has to be done quickly and efficiently to avoid wasting the time that we would normally use to scrape it up, then determine if it is of use. In KM we have found the information, done the necessary research and made it available for use by those who may need it. That is management in it's simplest form. Hence we have Knowledge Management.
Great discussion going here!
