John,
What you talk about I beleive is the term "Best practicies".
My viewpoint on the term is that best praticies in nothing more than a description of what somebody did in a particualer situation that had this and that outcome.
These situations are all unik and to beleive that they can be copyied or reused must indeed be considured very questionable. My point is that no knowledge can be put down on paper. What is put on paper is information and nothing more.
This information is constructed out of the knowledge of the individual and is only a reflection of this knowledge.
It contains fealings and intentions and has a purpose and aim, like what I am writing here.
These fealings and intentions are only noise to any one but me, and you can choose to accept or disregard it.My knowledge, and yours for that matter, is built up by decades of experiences, and there is no chance in life that you will ever be able to fully understand the text you see before you now.
You cannot push this fact aside and talk of "understanding or not understanding why these people took these steps or not". You say "it worked" and hold that as cruicial.
I do not beleive that what you say is true.I beleive that it is very important to know why they did what they did, because that is the true reason for why it worked.
When you know this you will also know why it will or will not work for you. But it is exactly the one thing that you will never find out.
Asking for this information would be to reveal a persons inner fealings, emotions, desires and political aims, and would end up "descilling" the individual both proffesionally and emotionaly.I understand that your oppinion comes with your job and your way of living, and I respect that.
But I do not agree with you that "knowledge" put down on paper is an asset, because it is not knowledge.Best regards
Richard
