Hi Arlette,

You have exactly the same problem that we have here. Huge duplicaiton of effort and re-invention, no way to identify who has done it before or might be working on it at the same time.

After several semi-successful/false starts with various 'knowledge bases' where people were supposed to catalog and collect their success stories, good documents, reports etc. we came to the conclusion that, quite literally, 'any knowledge management that requires extra work, is bad knowledge management.' I mean this purely from the perspective that it is not sustainable, people will just not do it if it means extra work.

As a result we are going to implement 'Active Knowledge' from Autonomy.com. This automatically, and in real-time, brings to you the relevant people and knowledge.

I'd recommend you check it out before re-inventing the wheel, as my organisation is apt to do.

Let me know what you think and feel free to continue this dialogue, we've been working on this for a while, so happy to share.
