When I finished chuckling at your imagery, my
first reaction was to agree. However I then
remembered that many people meet their spouse
through mutual friends or by attending events of
mutual interest. This would seem to suggest that
there could be a role for inter-mediaries or knowledge
brokers, but one that requires subtlety and
sensitivity.

I think that the problem is that although we all
rely on our own personal networks of friends and
colleagues to answer questions or point us to
someone who can, those introductions usually only
go one or two generations.

What we're looking at here, is how to connect
people who are working on similiar things or who
have similiar interests, but may not even know
each other exists, and may not think to go and
look.

We've actually done a lot of work on how to
'connect' people; if anyone wants to know more,
let me know and I'll be happy to share.
