Hi Ron,
exactly. The corporate provides a great deal of context to an employee. And next to an 'organism' it can be many things to an employee (see Gareth Morgan's Images of Organization'), not all of them benificiary.
So Knowledge Management in my view is about managing the environment/ecology this knowledge flows in. Also, some emphasis needs to be put on replicating (as sharing is associated with splitting the whole and cutting up its value) other knowledge, not tied to the organizational context, allowing employees to act on knowledge they may have gained in other areas and hereby helping the organization to innovate.
That's why I want to bring the personal context into ICT, not abstracting from it als the explication-strategy seems to advocate.
