Mr. Grohn;
First, I extend my apologies over my misunderstanding of your name. My use of Duke Ellington was adressed to the Mezei response on the impossibility of manageing knowledge.That being said, however, I still must disagree with some of what you say.
Cooperative phenomena are simply global or system-wide effects. The magic, if you will, comes, for example, from the ability of pairwise interactions to produce synchronized global effects. The emergence is precisely that of pairs (or triplets..) producing global phenomena. And, in fact, such types of physical phenomena are widely considered in the study and exploration of evolution, as is discussed in J. D. Murray's Mathematical Biology, and M.V. Volkenshtein's Biophysics. Allen Turing, patron saint of many computer scientists and programmers, was an early and seminal participant in mathematical studies relating to evolution -- his key paper on The Chemical basis of Morphogenisis was published in 1952.
Creative acts/ eforts come also from collaberations, Richard Strauss and Hugo Von Hoffmansthal with their Rosenkavelier, for example. Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, the Gershwin brothers, the Berg String Quartette, and so on.(I single out music as I have been a working jazz musician)
My wife is a painter; she manages her creativity, as I have seen many times. I've known and worked with many jazz singers, quite a few of whom manage their performances -- tell the pianist exactly what they want, sometimes to the point of requiring certain chord voicings, so that they can feel free to do scat singing, or bend phrases just so. As is well known, prima donnas are very demanding; they want to create the perfect performance.
