Hello everyone,
This is my first contribution to this discussion platform. And would like to share ideas / experiences about KM.3 months ago we have completed a package software implementation project here in Istanbul,Turkey. We have implemented a financial product and a groupware solution. At the end they discovered that by qualified package products, their IT support needs (mostly for clearing bugs for previous infrastructure) will be decreased. So they think about capturing information, creating knowledge AND outsourcing IT support functions. We suggest a Knowledge Manager role directly reported to GM. This positions main responsibility is to understand business challenges and proactively prepare internal and external information for decision making. He/she will also define and manage changes in knowledge infrastructure for changing business needs. They observed this position one of their most strategic divisions and transfered director of IT to KM and outsource IT function.
