I have found your discussions of strategies very
insightful, but I would also be interested in hearing
your thoughts on how to obtain buy-in from the
organization. It's one thing for the CEO or CKO to send a memo
around stating that KM is now a priority, and it's
another thing to change the culture of a company
so that 1) a KM database is used and 2) a KM database
is updated.I suppose the right way to do it, if there is such
a thing, might be to set the direction, without directing.
So that we might tell the employees at large that we
want everyone in the organization to have access to
everyone elses knowledge of corporate related information.
And ask teams to come up with the method of creating
accountability.Of course these things would have to be monitored,
goals clarified, and an attention to detail pursued
in that incentive structures are setup to reward
the desired behavior. I would also wonder if we
need to create a catch phrase if you will, to focus
the thoughts and energies during the time of
transition. This is all very theoretical for me, and any feedback
would be very appreciated.Thanks!
