In relation to the discussions of Virtual Organisations, taking place on VoNet, I would like some feed-back on the following definition of Virtual Business Communities:
"In defining a virtual business community the outset lies within knowledge creation and project
innovation. Through Extranets, experts from diverse business areas, possessing unique
competencies (i.e. engineers, advertising agencies, management consultants, etc.), may join forces
around a specific project on demand from clients in the market. Together with the client they
represent a business community, but only as long as the project exists. When the project has been
solved the community also dissolves. Throughout the project development phase the members are
often located in different parts of the world, all depending on what experts to draw on. In that sense
the business community becomes virtual existing as its primary focus is on knowledge creation
between its members working apart - not necessarily on their previous knowledge to each other -hence
the term The Virtual Business Community. Projects within the virtual business community
may thus vary in contents and duration according to each client's needs and the chosen experts."Best Regards,
