I totally agree with you. The essence of knowledge management is communication because a company can have outstanding people with outstanding skills; also it can have the correct KM and business vision and strategy but without communication the company can't make anything for real. I think that most people underestimate the power of communication.
I also agree with you that companies most focus on communication rather than creating a new culture. I think that if people can talk to each other will automatically appear a new culture because people will learn from each other; also I think it doesn't matter what the technology you use; maybe an intranet is the best solution but I think that we don't need to wait to have a intranet to communicate, we can use some other technology.
