The recongnition of the problem that each person uses their own "Lens" to filter what they do in their position as a CKO is most perceptive. It is also the reason many companies have many problems.
In most organizations the visionaries at the top of the org chart know a fairly small amount of each of the segments of the business. They rely on the people beneath them to make choices that are in the best interest of the company. Herb Keller does not know how to fix an airplane, but his chief engineer should. The same is true for all aspects of the business.
The CKO must understand that the information in a business must not only be gathered but it must also be put into a format that is understandable by each person who needs it.
The best way I have discovered to do this is to find people with multiple perspectives. They can be found in each business and they provide a bridge the CKO can use to better understand and organize the information they are entrusted with.
