Sharing knowledge is an ongoing process, however there are 'best practices' which facilitate this process. For example:

1. Create a knowledge sharing 'environment'. If employees operate within the proviso that knowledge can be freely and openly shared without repercussion, this in itself creates many positive 'knowledge sharing' intangibles. In effect, this gets the ball rolling. How do we create this environment? By having an open-book, open-door, level playing field within the organization, in recognition of the fact that all individuals are knowledge reservoirs with the potential to create and disseminate valuable ideas etc.

2. Standardize the meaning of 'knowledge'. Without a consensus as to what knowledge means, or without some form of context, it becomes difficult to keep the knowledge sharing operations 'legible'. In other words, when all employees have a concerted view about the context of knowledge, for example this is tacit, or explicit etc, then it becomes easier to facilitiate the knowledge flow. A tacit knowledge sharing environment would be very different in nature from an explicit sharing environment. Perhaps you can explain why this would be so.
