And in the final analysis, isn't a larger budget the reason for anything IT does? I find that IT is the least able to provide metrics that are explicit. This is because IT is the largest tax in any company, without having to contribute to the bottom line. I am not picking on CIOs, but rather highlighting the opinion of P&L responsible business managers.

I would like to believe that KM is about bottom line results, while still honoring the infrastructure folks and the HR folks, and customers, and marketing...etc. I want toinclude every employee in the company in the value without seeming to elicit "Big Brother" mentality.

I have just decided to rename the CIO function. Chief Infrastructure Officer. I think this describes the position and responsibility best, allowing learning, information and knowledge to be led by the domain of the CKO.

Any thoughts...or violent reactions?
