Don
I'm very interested in your architecture, however, I wasn't able to follow your description to understand its practical application. Can you expand on this for me please.
If I can add to the discussion on the role of the CKO, the role of filtering is one that I see is vital to avoid information/knowledge 'glut'. The organisation can collect a lot of information by being a learning organisation, however, from my understanding of knowledge, information only becomes knowledge when it has a practical value for the organisation (in terms of being applicable to achieving the organisation's business objectives).
I believe a key role of the CKO is to orchestra the sifting of the information/knowledge available both internally and externally to the organisation and facilitating the provision of this knowledge/information to those in the organisation who need it to achieve the organisation's objectives. This role is one of a knowledge broker which optimises the knowledge management process by targeting the provision of knowledge to meet the organisation's business objectives. The issue of push or pull as a method of providing access to knowledge, probably deserves a separate discussion in itself.
I would appreciate comments on the filtering and facilitating functions within the CKO role.
thanks
Debbie
