I like the Senge book, but it wasn't the one I was refering to.
I dug my old copy out of the loft, the book was called "The Learning Organisation" by Bob Garratt, published by Harper Collins in 1987.
It's not brilliant, but one of the things he did go on about was the poor showing in the boardroom.
