John said to Peter 'This is red', I type "This is red", and the CPU flashes to the screen [This is red]. Where is the knowledge and the information here Don? Surely it is not in the medium, nor is it all in the message, some it is in what we do with it, even more is in what it does to us!
So I do not think we are any wiser on these distinctions yet.
