Hi there!!!

I think you may have almost hit the nail on the head. My view is the theory applies for the environment it was intended for - passing electromagentic signals down copper wires - but in terms of human beings I think that there is a lot of confusion and unnecessary complexity caused by the use of "Information Theory."

Like Knowledge, I believe that information is also very hard to actually define, but that we all know when we come across it!! I wonder if maybe elements of the KM community have blocked themselves out of pursuing potential avenues?

Maybe the focus on Information Theories has led many people down the "Intranet is the Answer" avenue which I hear many people talk about when they questioned on KM solutions!! A sort of pseudo "look after the bits and the bytes will look after themselves" mentality!!

Just a thought!!!
