Hi Bob,

Yes, you have captured the essence of the role in the idea of helping valuable information (or knowledge) get into the hands of people who would in turn value it. From my research, the role appears to be one of leveraging intellectual capital. The specific responsibilities that come under that are to create a learning organization and building a knowledge infrastructure. The idea of capturing knowledge from outside the organization is a key one. I found that there is a growing awareness of some CKOs to capture important customer knowledge that can be turned into important learning for the organization. This learning could then be transformed into innovative products and services. Although this is not a new idea, the ways that it might be done are new. Anyway, getting back to my original point, what might a CKO do to become more strategic and integrative in their work?

Bob
