Hi Don,
Once again, you make a lot of sense. As I might
have mentioned previously, I have just concluded
some research on the challenges and competencies
of CKOs. I interviewed 25 of them. One of the
competencies that was missing from the top 6
identified competencies was the integrative
competency. That is, the need to bring the
various business functions together through
an overall knowledge strategy. I believe strategy
acts as the integrating mechanism. And the
strategic goal is to leverage IC to generate
increased profits. The method for doing that is
to develop a KM strategy such as identifying and
developing tomorrow's needed core competencies.One of the things I found out is that most CKOs
or their equivalent are still operating from
their former functional perspective or lens. Few
have crossed the boundary to the other lenses.
They will need to operate from the most holistic
lens, the strategic one.Bob
