It depends on the philosophy of the organization that implements the KM process.

If data is gathered and analyzed with the focus of process automation, more than likely employees will not benefit if their jobs are cut.

On the other hand, if the information is gathered and used with employees to reflect upon their own processes, this could be the win-win situation.

Is your research looking at the technology of KM or with the psychological/emotional perspective of KM? Is there an environment of trust that ensures the data is reliable? Is there deception in the gathering of information which could be dancing on the edges of business ethics?

From your perspective, what constitutes “the KM system”?
